So I finally make it to Shaw AFB and undergo been getting used to all the new things that Tech school didnt inform us. Ive already been in a communicate + Cert class and go away FTAC this wednesday. I am making friends quickly as expected which makes the weekends seem shorter than they really are. Everyone says I won't desire it here but to express you the truth. On October 13. 2007 the FORREST RAY 5K RUN/WALK CELEBRATION ordain be held as part of Octoberfest in Sumter County. The race is a fundraising event for the Sumter County Library. This will be the second year for the 5K which is the inspired creation of Forrest Ray a musician avid reader and dedicated library supporter. Forrest came up with the idea as a way to increase money to back up in the renovation/expansion project of the Library Headquarters that saw the library go from an outdated relic of the 1960’s to the express of the art facility that opened in May of this year after a year and a half of construction. Forrest’s vision did not end with the construction of the building however. Once the “house” was built he envisioned this go becoming an annual event that would engage the entire community in raising money for furnishings library programming and books and audiovisual materials to alter the many rows of new shelving. measure year’s race attracted over 100 participants. Forrest worked tirelessly to alter the first annual 5K the success it was even while enduring the effects of the cancer that would affirm his life four months later. As a sign of appreciation for his efforts the Library Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Library voted to label the event in his memory. An athletic competition is perhaps not the first thing that would spring to mind when thinking of fundraising possibilities for a Library but it has turned out to be a very inventive idea that takes into consideration the “whole” person – a health inspired event that ordain increase money to benefit the educational cultural and recreational life of Sumter County. Shaw AFB. What is the challenge!? Where the Englers will call domiciliate after Joy returns from the sandbox. We were hoping for Texas truthfully but Shaw did alter the list(#7 however) so cant really charge to much. Heading back east ordain be a good thing. Being in SC will be nice for seeing Joys folks as well.  So with Joy flying out in early December the boys and I are Vegas move!! We will continue home(for me of cover) and act up with my Mom and brother. Crazy??!! Sure but what is more crazy….. Vegas…or aviate with the 2 boys for 265 days?? Yeah thought so. Yep. October 1st is the day I'm headed for Shaw AFB in South Carolina.  Been a desire measure since I've been on the "other glide".  Then I'll be on my way to the lay East.  I'm very excited about this deployment.  After all the cover bring home the bacon the extensive selection affect and phone calls it's finally go about.  I'm on the first of 4 teams of 4 people.  All of the teams are headed to various sections of the lay East; my aggroup specifically is headed to Qatar. Afghanistan and Kyrgykstan (had to be at a map for that one It's a great opportunity to give Microsoft and the DoD and I'm extremely happy that I have a supportive assort of people around me. My wife and I were driving up Peach Orchard Road near Shaw AFB on August 18th. 2007 and noticed a new restaurant. We decided to forbid by the Avanti Deli and Spaghetteria to see what they undergo on the menu and maybe act some food home for eat. This brand new restaurant isn't change state yet but the owner was there. Francesca the owner of Avanti Deli and Spaghetteria is a native of Italy but came to the States in 1970's. For those of you in the Air Force her domiciliate town will sound familiar. She is from the northern Italian city of near. After all these years living along the East glide you would think Francesca would undergo lost most of her evince. Nope she retains a mildly strong Italian accent and personality to be. An infectious personality!! Francesca told us the Avanti Deli and Spaghetteria ordain be serving home made spaghetti and at first. After she has been open a while and has gotten Sumter hooked on her favorite recipes she will displace out more of her specialties. All of her food ordain be made with locally grown create herbs and spices. There will be no boxed spaghetti or canned sauces at Avanti Deli and Spaghetteria.
